Transportation Manager: Roger Tingley

700 W. Maple St. Bloomfield, NM 87413 | Phone: 505-632-2662

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. My name is Roger Tingley. I bring over 20 years of experience in transportation, training, and safety to the Bloomfield Schools Transportation Department from the oilfield industry and the educational setting at San Juan College. I am very happy to serve the Bloomfield School District as Transportation Manager.

The Transportation Department is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting an estimated 2000 students to and from school as well as school-sponsored activities. The Transportation Department manages and maintains the school district’s fleet of buses and school activity vehicles. The Bloomfield School District encompasses approximately 1800 square miles, driving over 300,000 miles annually. As I begin my second year as Transportation Manager, I am proud of the dedicated employees in this department as they have proven to treat each student just like family. After all, the bus driver is often the first and the last staff member a student sees each day.

In accordance with the New Mexico Administrative Code 6.41.1, transportation is a privilege afforded to all students who qualify under NMPED Standards for Providing Transportation for Eligible Students. Our mechanics and service personnel work tirelessly to ensure each bus is safe and adequately prepared for use each day, and for any road condition. In support of bus safety, this past year we piloted a new transportation bus safety system on a portion of our fleet. This new system is proving to help tremendously with tracking our buses. By using the parent App, it allows parents to know exactly where their student is while they are on the bus. I am happy to announce that this system will be in use for all of our daily trip buses starting the 2023-2024 school year and we strongly encourage all of our parents/guardians to download and use this parent App. I believe the added involvement the App will provide for the parents is going to be a welcomed improvement.

Approximately two weeks before school starts, the parent/guardian for each student who is routed on the bus will receive an email, text, or postcard message with their student’s routing information. This email will also contain a link to the parent App which they can download for either Android or IOS devices. This link will also allow parents/guardians to review the transportation policies, and the ridership rules for the students. It is very important that all parents/guardians read and acknowledge these documents. All students will be issued a bus pass with a QR code linked to their student ID number. They will be required to scan their pass as they are getting on and off the bus at their designated stops. No student will be picked up or dropped off anywhere other than their designated stop, unless prior arrangements have been made through the school and the Transportation Department. If a student misplaces their pass, a replacement must be obtained through the Transportation Department for a $5.00 fee. As always, the Bloomfield Schools Transportation Department wants to gently remind everyone who uses our services that riding the bus is a privilege which our staff takes seriously and works hard to preserve, ensuring that all students have equal access in riding the bus.

Last but not least, the Bloomfield Schools Transportation Department kindly asks that you be aware of our presence as we share the roadway and strive diligently to deliver our students to their destinations safely.

Below you can scan the QR codes to download the App for your device. The Parent Guide will assist you in setting up the App.
